amid和among的区别

这两个介词均可表示“在…之中”。其区别在于：1、among只接复数名词、表人集体名词、复数意义的代词；而amid除此之外还可接单数名词和不可数名词。

2、among表同质关系；而amid表异质关系。

例如：她被发现置身于死人之间。

She was found among the dead.(她是死人)

She was found amid the dead.(她是活人)

3、among表示一事物游离于一个整体之外，易于分辨出来；而amid表示一事物融入一个整体之中，不易分辨出来。

4、among往往用于好的、有利的情况；而amid往往用于不好的、不利的情况。

他们共同努力发了财。

2、They quarrelled among themselves.

他们自己彼此吵了起来。

3、You must settle the matter among yourselves.
